Ian began playing Guitar when he was 13 years of age; by his 15th Birthday he was playing professionally 5 nights per week. 3 years had passed when he was asked to join Scotland’s Top Band: The Dream Police. Ian accepted and started month's rehearsals before setting off on his first Major British Tour.
Touring and Recording for TV & Radio The Band were very successful, but eventually the strain started to show among some of the band members and personalities forced the band to split and it was time to move on.
Soon after the split-up, Ian's new manager secured a Publishing deal with Carlin Music which would keep Ian busy for the next 5 years, co-writing & collaborating with Name Acts of the time.
Having established himself firmly as a guitarist/singer/songwriter Ian was getting increasingly involved in session work, playing guitar on album tracks in most of the Top Studios in London for a number of well-known Artists.
For the next 10 years Ian toured all over Europe, Canada and The States, most of the time playing back to back gigs with only a couple of days off here and there, there were some breaks, sometimes a whole month, then it was back on the road. It was during this time Ian became involved in sound engineering and production, working with many stars including: Emmy Lou Harris and The Hot Band, Cher, The Gregg Allman Band, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Huey Lewis, Michael Shenker and his good friend Billy Connolly, to name just a few.
These days although still making appearances, Ian spends most of his time in his recording studio which he built at his home by the sea on the south coast of England.
Currently Ian is recording a New Album of Songs and Instrumentals and is busy also Writing & Producing Show Themes and Music Stings for Streaming Digital Radio www.myspiritradio.com |
